The Equinox is one of the most popular toad's out there and is being pulled by thousands of motorhomes. Putting the Equinox on trailer or dolly is not practical for the RV'er. Yes there is some wear and tear on the tires, suspension, etc. I have been driving a motorhome pulling my current 2010 FWD Equinox for 2 1/2 years and about 10,000 miles. I did look for 2015 models, but I could not find anything with V6 engine. He sent me two pdf's showing both the FWD and AWD can be towed four wheels down. I then questioned him about the towing of the AWD model. It was not in their records yet being it is not to be dlivered until April 5th. ![]() I contacted the dealer and his first question to me was how did I find out about this vehicle. I found one locally with all the options that I wanted in it, but without a lot of options I did not want. Once I found out the Equinox AWD could be towed four wheels down I started searching using the GM Family First website. This includes towing by hook truck, by two-wheel car dolly, or by chain/rope/strap, and also includes pushing. In many cases, the safest approach is to temporarily remove the rear drive shaft and tow with the rear wheels on the ground, but the owner's manual should be checked for the manufacturer's recommended towing procedure. Some transfer cases are designed such that they should never be towed at highway speed or for long distances unless they're shifted into 2WD or 4WD-Hi, and see the note in the above paragraph about transmissions. If towing four-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive vehicles with any driving wheels on the ground, it gets complicated and depends upon the design of both the transfer case and the transmission. Other automatic transmissions with only one pump may be towed without damage only for relatively short distances and at relatively low speeds. Some automatic transmissions with two pumps are also fine if left in neutral, even for extended towing distances. If towing with two driving wheels (two-wheel-drive) on the ground, it depends upon the transmission most manual transmissions are fine if they're left in neutral. Overall length is 183.1 inches, clearly putting it into the compact crossover space.The 1.5L Turbo and 1.6L Turbo Diesel motors will be mated to six-speed automatic transmissions, while the optional 2.0L Turbo will be paired with GM’s new nine-speed auto.The optional 1.6L turbo-diesel engine is estimated to make 136 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque while delivering a whopping 40 MPG highway.The up-level 2.0L LTG Turbo Ecotec is estimated to deliver 252 horsepower, 260 pound-feet of torque and 28 MPG highway.The base 1.5L LYX Turbo Ecotec is estimated to deliver 170 horsepower, 203 pound-feet of torque and 31 MPG highway.Also, these specs are for the U.S.-market Equinox, with models for international markets (such as China, Australia, South America, etc.) possibly having entirely different specs.
